American pop music played as our model Angelina entered Spin Hair Works. Right away, licensed head therapist Hayasaka brought her to a private room. Angelina wanted to have a head spa. She was troubled with thin, fine hair. And on top of that, it had no volume. Cleansing the Scalp – Head Spa Session 1. After checking her hair and scalp, Hayasaka concluded her locks needed some serious R&R. Spin Hair Works, a specialist in hair services, has a rejuvenating head spa showcasing haircare products by leading head spa brand ESTESSiMO. With a philosophy of holistic beauty in haircare, ESTESSiMO restores hair health by addressing issues from the scalp. Named after the layers that make up the hair’s cuticle, the mask uses highly advanced lamellar technology that targets damaged hair. He moved from the temples, to the ears, and back to the neck to release all the built-up tension. Expertly kneading the scalp, he worked to release all of the client’s built-up tension. After about 25 minutes, Hayasaka finished the massage and brought over a big machine. When he turned it on, steam filled the air. The stylist then started steaming the client’s hair. He explained that this step was important to open the hair follicles and allow the mask to fully penetrate. Steaming the hair also helps improve its health and shine. The staff is also very familiar with imported products like Goldwell and Redken. With this information in mind, our hair models were very excited to try Hayato’s ‘anything you like’ package, where they could relax and fully trust their stylist to take care of their hair. One of the hair models wanted a digital perm – a unique Japanese hair perm, while our second model opted for a double-process hair color, a conditioning treatment, and a haircut. Great Deal for Japanese Digital Perm So what exactly is a digital perm? Created and perfected in Japan, the digital perm uses heat to give the hair its shape memory and it also strengthens the condition of the hair. It gives hair a 3-D effect with flexible waves and curls, without making the hair stiff or dull – and its effects are extremely long-lasting. Let’s see the process for ourselves on our first hair model. Digital perm chemicals being applied to the hair Our first model wanted to shake up her very long and somewhat lifeless tresses with some bouncy curls as well as a boost of shine. After a detailed hair analysis by the stylist, it was decided that the digital perm would be the perfect treatment for what she wanted, and he proceeded to prep her hair for the treatment. First, the chemicals were carefully applied to her hair and given time to set. The stylist then did a ‘test curl’ to check how the hair was reacting to the perm process, and to ensure that there would be no hair damage. With expert blow drying and finger-curling techniques by the stylist, the digital perm was completed and left our hair model looking gorgeous with her new look. New York Style Hair Color with Highlights Our next beautiful model is a young Asian-American woman with previously-bleached hair. She came hoping that she could have a fun look without damaging her hair further, and her stylist did everything possible to deliver. The stylist took special care to only apply bleach to her virgin hair, including avoiding folding the foil to keep the application precise. After washing out the bleach, the stylist created the perfect shade of purple to match the photograph our model brought in. After applying the dye to the bleached ends, the end color is an amazing dip-dye/gradation of bright purple! Both our hair models felt completely relaxed knowing that they were being given 5-star service by Hayato’s hair experts – and wouldn’t hesitate going back for another change in their look.

The Master Stylist Today Today, Nageyama is a highly respected salon owner and sought-after hair stylist in his own right. Professionalism and high quality service are equally as important to him as his hair design techniques, as he believes that – regardless of the salon’s ambience and decor – the stylist holds the ultimate responsibility in providing customers what was promised to them. Our first hair model wanted an edgy, modern cut that would give him the ‘cool’ factor. After a look at the magazine image the model brought and a brief but detailed consultation, Nageyama started snipping away and in almost no time, our model had the razor-sharp cut he was looking for. Looking very cool indeed! Our second hair model wanted a classic style to complement her features – not too different from her usual style – and one that she could easily maintain at home. After a relaxing head spa with steam treatment, Nageyama worked his hair cutting magic again by giving her a youthful look with bouncy locks, and her smile at the end said it all! All smiles after the Nageyama effect Our third model was a little short on time, and we were concerned that she may not get exactly what she wanted given the time constraints. Comprehensive Package for Avant-Garde Tokyo Style with Tokio Inkarami

The model Hana arrived early that morning. The stylists welcomed her in and quickly brought her to a chair and made her comfortable. Then, they began the consultation. She needed a new look—something stylish—and she wanted to neutralize the reds in her hair. She had not been to a salon in several months, and her hair needed a bit of a TLC. Stylists Yukari Katayama and Takahiro Araki suggested a color close to her natural hair color and a cut with feminine bangs that framed her face. This style would look great and be easy for her to maintain in between salon visits. Over 400 Hair Colors to Choose From After Hana agreed, stylist Yukari went to a wall of dyes in the middle of the salon. NORA has over 400 colors and stylists can mix dyes to create custom shades for clients, she told us. She grabbed three bottles and began mixing a custom color. She was making a shade just for the model. Once the color was ready, the stylists began applying the color throughout the Hana’s hair. The dyes they were using were ADDICTCHY, a Japanese professional hair color brand that would give the model shiny, long-lasting color. After checking on the model’s hair, stylist Takahiro Araki said they were ready to wash the dye out. Detox Hair With an All-Natural Head Spa in Tokyo This all-natural treatment uses 100 percent pure essential oils to detoxify and condition your scalp and hair for glossy, healthy hair. The stylists shot a stream of warm steam on the model’s hair to open up the cuticle. With the cuticle open, the stylists then applied three products— each one heavier in consistency than the last. After steaming the model’s hair once more, it was time to wash everything out. Redefining Your Style With the model back in the chair, stylist Takahiro Araki began to cut her hair. He followed up with TOKIO hair oil before blow drying. He finished off the model’s cut by dry cutting face-framing bangs. Then, he and stylist Yukari Katayama used a round brush to finish off the model’s look. When asked about the package, the model told us how much she enjoyed the whole experience.
